BRIEF: Create a main installation piece that identifies with the ideas of the uncanny, perfection and mystery/danger within beauty; that will tie in with the short.
RESPONSE: A delicate beautful bird cage design that will be suspended and supported from the ceiling will hold images of the beautiful woman and symbolise her perfection. Within the cage will be the cruede, decaying mystery of the inner woman that can be glimpsed through holes in the masked material of the cage. This is illustrated by the cupboard and projector arrangement.
PROCESSES: Complex construction methods; forming and glueing strips of bendy-ply and attaching them to form the dome shape. Creating struts to hold the weight of the dome and attaching the silk to the dome in order the catch the back projected images from the projectors.
Creating foam board cruede shapes that will creep up the sides of the dome. Use of band saws and pillar drills to ensure accurate cuts and construction. Constructions relied on consise measurements to ensure all parts and pieces fitted tightly.
