The Raven - Sequence 3

BRIEF: Create original imagery based upon the image of Lenore and the mans obsession with her.
RESPONSE: A stop-frame animated candle that flickers in front of the screen (the mans POV) we become mesmorised and begin to see images of Lenore flash by as they begin to merge with the flame of the candle (see above film at 2:20mins )
PROCESSES: Various cardboard flame shapes were made with a generic base so that they could be attached to the candle. The candle was stuck to the table and the camera fixed, the flame would be altered, replaced and photographed every time over and over. The candle was covered in masking tape and painted white, the cruede-ness of the tape and paint enhanced the gothic elements within the piece. The candle was placed with a table structure that was lit with two projectors to cast shadows and tones. The moving image of the woman was created by moving the head of the o.h.p
A room was created using foam board abstract shapes that were glued to the 'table'. Images of the room were projected at various angles to give the illusion of a table within a room. The shapes of the foamboard caught the foreground images, allowing the separation of the background onto the wall behind.
